N.Z. Test Averages
F. B. Smith, who played only in the first two tests, heads the New Zealand test batting averages and G F. Cresswell. who figured in the final test as a result of Mooney's injury, has the best bowling average. The two left-handers Donnelly and Sutcliffe, are second and third in the averages. ' Donnelly had a total of 459 runs and Sutcliffe 423. Cowie and Burtt, second and third respectively in the bowling honours, were the spearhead of the New Zealand attack. Burtt took 17 wickets and Cowie 14. BATTING
The appointment of Dr Brian Thompson, who is at present in England, as director of tuberculosis services, was confirmed by the Wellington Hospital Board at aispecial meeting today.
