Pound Slumps On Paris Blackmarket
PARIS, Tue.. ('220 p.m.).— The pound sterling today slumped to a new blackmarket low of 935 francs, compared with the official rate of 1097 francs.
A section of the French Press has been sceptical of the official, reason given for Sir Stafford Cripps’ departure for Switzerland, and since Sunday, when the announcement about the British Chancellor was published, the rate has dropped 10 francs to 930 yesterday.
