"The council of Auckland University College should have known what it was doing when it pressed me for 12 months to make a quick decision on the Tamaki site,” said the Minister of Education (Mr McCombs) yesterday afternoon. He was commenting on a meeting of the council at which the wisdom of developing the Tamaki site was questioned by several members. “They have understood for some time that conditions in the building trade were such that not more than one major building could be proceeded with at one time,” Mr McCombs added. “That is no new condition.” The Minister re-affirmed the opinion that “it is a wise move to go to Tamaki.” He said he assumed he would hear from the council.
