Earl Of Harewood And Miss Stein
LONDON. Wed.—The engagement of the Earl of Harewood, aged 2(1, a nephew of the King, and Miss Marion Stein, aged 22, a talented Austrianborn pianist, is reported in the Court column of The Times.
The Daily Mail says that at Buckingham Palace last night it was stated: “Permission will have to be granted by the King iu the Privy Council before the engagement is announced.”
Earlier, Reuters quoted Miss Stein’s mother as saying: "My daughter is already wearing her engagement ring.”
The Earl of Harewood, who is 11th in succession to the Throne, is tlie elder son of the Princess Royal. Before joining the Guards in 1942, he worked in a munitions factory. He was wounded and captured by the Germans in Italy in 1944. > The Earl and Miss Stein met as a result of their intei'est in music. In recent months they have frequently attended the opera and other musical events together. The Daily Express says that His Majesty has agreed ta the marriage. It is expected to take place in the autumn.
