Slavery In British Colonies, Russian Says
GENEVA. Wed. (11 a.m.)— British colonic,'! were ‘‘a shameful blot
on the conscience of mankind,” M. Amasasp Arutiunian, Soviet delegate, told the United Nations Economic and Social Council today. His remark came during the debate on a British resolution, which was carried, asking the secretary-genera! to appoint an ad hoc committee to study the field of slavery and of institutions and customs resembling slavery. He insisted that slavery existed in Togoiand. New Guinea. Singapore and the Belgian Congo.
