Teachers Appointed To North Schools
The following appointments of teachers were approved by the Auckland Education Board yesterday: Head Teachers.—Mr W. D. Teesdale, Whau Valley.
Sole Teacher.—Mr W. H. Boswell, Parua Bay No. 1. Assistant Masters.—Mr H. J. Bassett, Whau Valley: Mr I. L. Scott, Hikurangi. Assistant Mistresses. —Miss R. HiltonJones, Awanui; Miss J. R. Shirley, Kaingaroa; Miss J. Tudehope, Otaika. Assistants secondary departments of district high schools. —Mr D. J. Horn, Dargaville District High; Miss D. L Morrish, Dargaville District High. NEW WHAU VALLEY HEAD Mr W. D. Teesdale, who has been appointed headmaster of the Whau Valley primary school, is the present headmaster of the Hora Hora School, at Whangarei. . Starting his teaching career in South Auckland, Mr Teesdale’s first appointment was at To Awamutu. He then went to Te Kuiti school and positions at Springdale and Bombay followed.
From there, Mr Teesdale went to the Gladstone School, Auckland, as first assistant, and he was later appointed headmaster of the Hora Hora School, where he has taught for 16 years.
Mr Teesdale is an old pupil of the Whangarei Boys’ High School. He has taken a prominent part in teachers’ organisations in the Whangarei district for many years. A past president of the Teachers’ Institute, Mr Teesdale has been a member of the executive for a long period, and at present is treasurer. He is vicepresident of the Headmasters’ Association.
Mr Teesdale replaces Mr R. L. McNab at the Whau Valley School. Mr McNab was recently appointed an inspector of schools, and is stationed at Invercargill.
