OBITUARY . . .

Mrs R, McCullough

A past resident of Tauraroa, Mrs Rebecca McCullough has died in Epsom, Auckland, at the age of 97. The daughter of Mr and Mrs Barchard, Mrs McCullough was born in Shortland Street. Whaiigarei, in 1352. She married Mr Thomas McCullough and spent her earlier married life on the goldfields in the Thames. Later they moved to Tauraroa, where they broke in a farm from the virgin bush. The same farm was run by Mrs McCullough's son, Alfred, and later by her three grandchildren, Fred, Ray and Tom.

After years of farming, Mr and Mrs McCullough moved to Epsom. Mrs McCullough’s husband predeceased her by 40 years. She is survived by seven sons, Messrs William, Frank, Harold, Charlie, Bert, Stanley and John McCullough. There are 10 grandchildren, 30 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Born At Hokianga

AUCKLAND, Thu. (Sp.:-—One of the leaders of Auckland’s commercial life, Mr John Stuart Milne, chairman of directors of Milne and Choyce, Ltd., died at his home. St Vincent’s Avenue, Remuera, lust evening, in his C9th year.

He was a director of the firm for 30 years and managing directoivfor more than 25 years, until his retirement from the posilion two years ago.

A son of Mr and Mrs John Milne, Mr Milne was born at Hokianga and was educated at St John's Collegiate School, Auckland.
