Reference to the death of Mr W. I. Morrison, a past president of the Whangarci Jersey Club, was made at yesterday's annual meeting of the club by the president (Mr F. C. G. Rusk) Ho paid a tribute to the services which the late Mr Morrison had rendered to the Jersey club movement, in Northland. As a token of respect, members stood for a moment in silence. Mr H. R. Simpson, Health Department inspectoi at Dnrgaville, has been transferred to Auckland. His successor is Mr J. Wilson. As sanitary and health inspector, Mr Simpson was well known in South Hokianga. This area is to be served in the future from a departmental officer at Kaikohe. Mr Wilson will serve in the Hobson and Ot am a tea counties and in Dargaville borough.
The Rev. Canon P. -S. Smallfield, who celebrated his 91st birthday today. attended the opening day of the Anglican Synod. Since he was ordained he has been present at (56 Synod sessions. He is now in retirement. Mrs Poro Hadficid, of Waimamaku, has been appointed b.y the Hokianga Hospital Board us Maori woman supervisor of Hit: domestics’ home at the Eaweno Hospital. Mrs Hudfield is a trained nurse.
