Swimming Event's At Empire Games
CHRISTCHURCH, Wed. (P.A.)—The council of the New Zealand Amateur 'Swimming Association has decided hat swimming events a! the- British
Umpire Gamer, must be conducted m accordance with accepted international standards, and for that reason the precedent of the Olympic Games and of the last British Empire Games will be followed in the appointment of officials as far as possible. New Zealand officials will be used, but overseas officials will be drawn on where necessary. Trials for the selection of a New Zealand team will be held at Auckland at the beginmng of January next.
The selectors will be P. Coira and L. J. Moorhouse (Christchurch) and W. O. Stoekley (Auckland). Mr Moorhouse has been selected as manager of the New Zealand swimming team. Mrs A. Bridson (Auckland) has been selected as chaperone, and D. F. Watson (Dunedin) as coach. Trials for the selection 'of a water polo team will be held in Wellington in December.
The selectors will be D. T. Woodfield (Wellington), R. M. Rattray (Christchurch) and' D. F. Watson (Dunedin).
No New Zealand swimming championships will be held until the Games are over.
The senior championships will be held in Timaru and the junior championships in Wanganui, both in February.
