DUNEDIN, Wed. iF.A.L— The outstanding economic feature of the last 12 months had been a further inflation of costs, said Mr R. M. Byford, of Auckland, in his presidential address to the 22nd annual conference of the New Zealand Ice Cream Manufacturers’ Association.

"The industry is facing an increasing number of obstacles." added Mr By ford. “New Zealand is carrying an enormous tax load and some restriction of Government expenditure is urgently required. "Workers are pressing for wage increases without corresponding increases in production, and manufacturers look with dismay at the vortex of rising costs."
