Catholics Bluntly Told

LONDON. Tue. (12.30 p.m ) The Prague correspondent of the British United Press says 30 priests and nuns were peremptorily summoned to the Presidium of the Ministry of Education today and bluntly told that any of them who tried to carry out the Vatican order of ex-communication against Communists would be considered traitors.

“This is not a warning.” they were told. "This is a notice. If the Government’s orders are not carried out. not only individual priests but the whole Catholic order of congregation will beheld responsible, and reprisals will be taken against them.” A Rome message says that because of the Pope’s threat of ex-communic-ation a village priest, Father Michele di Paola, refused today to conduct the funeral of a woman whose coffin was draped with red flags.

When mourners threatened him ever, he pronounced a blessing. Three people were arrested.
