Whangarei Radio Station Progress

Installation of tin: transmitter for Northland's radio station at Whangarei has practically been completed Testing remains to be carried out and this is likely lo occupy some days.

The 17511 radio mast has Peon finished mid work is now proceeding with the digging of Ihe OOOfl trench, in which tiic cable between flic mast and the transmitter will lie laid. Alsu accommodated in Hie trench will be copper-shea I bed cables to carry electric-power to ihe mast if if .is found necessary subsequently to light : the mast for air navigation, purposes. Attached lo the mast itself will be 12 miles of earth wires, radiating througn 120 channels. Part of this work has been finished but it appears that some time will elapse before the transmission section of the station, thoroughly tested and ready for broadcasting, will be ready. No announcement regarding the official opening of the station lias vet been made.
