Rock Oyster Season Closes This Week

The rock oyster season at Whangarei and in the Bay of Islands area closes at. the end of this week, according to instructions issued by the Marine Department. The last oysters of the season will be on sale at Whangarei tomorrow and Friday when the last of the season’s pickings will be brought to the Town' Wharf by launch. So far, over 200 sacks, or 1000 sugar bags, of Parua Bay oysters have been sold and it is anticipated that the tally for the end of the season's consignment will be about 250 sacks. Ibis is slightly more than the averagp season's total.
