This is the second match for both Whangarei and Otamatea. In their first outings, Whangarei beat Rodney 12-11 and Otamatea lost to Northern Wairoa 20-3.
There are several changes in the Whangarei XV., which on paper appears much stronger than that which just scraped home at Matakana. Dunn has been moved from fiveeighth to fullback, where R. Macnay played at Rodney, and Beazley and M. Macnay occupy the inside berths. This is M. Macnay's first game for Whangarei. He was a reserve back at Rodney. Beazley was in Australia at the time of the Rodney match.
Reserves Backs: W. Haybittle (Colts), G. McCullough (Mid-West-ern), D. Ingham (School); forwards: L. Russell (High School), D. Hedley (Colts), R. Cook (Colts), All emergencies will have a run.
The playing of P. Murphy in.his right position on the side of the scrum has relegated Colebrook to the emergencies. Grove was not available to play as lock at Rodney and this time has been placed on the back of the scrum. He does not appeal as a back-row type. The Otamatea team, which was not impressive at Dargaville, will be strengthened by the inclusion of Ross Wright at centre. Wright was out of action at the time of the first game through injuries. Mr H. T. Murdoch (Northern Wairoa) will referee the game.
