First- Fine Week End For 3 Months
What promisse to be Whangarei’s first fine wtJ. end in three months dawned cold but clear this morning. The officially recorded temperature at 8 a.m. this morning was 44deg.— a low point which has been equalled only once this year. This morning’s temperature was accompanied by the year’s first widespread heavy frost. Barometric pressure at 30.45, on the other hand, was the highest for 45 days.
Weather Office forecasts are for settled weather tomorrow.
The last week-end in the borough which was entirely free of rain was April 16 and 17.
Of the past ,18 days only two—today and Thursday—have been rainless. Most of these daily falls have been light, however, and the total for thC first half of this month is now 2.43 in., compared with the July average of 7.71 in.
