Kicks, Punches In Persian Parliament 1
TEHERAN, Thu. (11 a.m.) — A meeting of the Persian Parliament ended in uproar, following the introduction of an amendment to permit women lo vote.
The deputy who proposed the amendment was attacked by three deputies representing Moslem religious interests, and a brawl was started, with dozens of deputies milling round exchanging kicks and punches. One deputy was injured by a kick in the groin. Officials attributed the melee to the strained nerves of the deputies, who had been observing a Moslem fast for more than 15 hours.
