London Railway men Plan General' Go-Slow ' Tacics
LONDON, Mon. (1 p.m.). —A meeting of delegates of London railwaymen tonight resolved to begin general “go slow” tactics in London on July 4 unless negotiations for the 10/- a week wage rise are resumed by the Railway Executive. One thousand four hundred delegates, representing 60,000 railwaymen, voted overwhelmingly for the resolutions. Mr S. D. Hoskins, secretary for the London district, said that after 18 months of nationalisation money was being squandered, but that the workers were under duress.
Mr Attlee Is keeping in hourly touch with developments. He called another meeting of senior ministers today to discuss the position The Paddington (London) branch of the National Union of P.aihvaymcn has sent a letter to Mr Attlee demanding dismissal of the Railway Executive. The letter said the branch had no faith in the present executive and ask-
ed for its replacement by “more competent people.” It protested "in the strongest possible terms” at the executive’s decision to break off negotiations on the union’s pay claims. At a mass meeting today Avonmouth dockers decided to remain on strike despite the resumption of work at Liverpool.
