NORTHERN WAIROA delegates to the North Auckland Rugby Union have expressed disgust with the treatment then union has received from the parent body, . President of the Northern Wairoa sub-union (Mr P, Walden) reporting to a management committee meeting on Tuesday night said: “We are absolutely neglected, and it is a waste of time going over to Whangarei.” ' , _ , He was referring to the venue of representative fixtures m particular. /

In reference to representations Which had been made for one of the interprovincial fixtures to be played at Dargaville this year, Mr Walden said! “I came away from the last meeting disgusted. “We did not get any support, not even from the North Auckland Rugby Union chairman. All the games this season are being played in Whangarei, and smaller unions do not get a look in.” “KNEW NOTHING” Mr Walden said he recalled North Auckland Rugby Union delegates’ attention to the success of the Taranaki v. North Auckland game at DargaviHe, showing that such games could be staged at Dargaville. Mr R. J. Bale, who has also been a Northern Wairoa delegate to the North Auckland Rugby Union, said a strange aspect Was that delegates from other unions to the North Auckland meetings were always armed with “more ammunition'’ than Northern Wairoa delegates. He said Northern Wairoa delegates knew nothing of the details concerning zoning of the Harding Shield. “They did not get the details through the post—it must have been through the back door,” commented the secretary (Mr J. R. Cook).

“It looks as though it is futile belonging to the North Auckland Rugby Union,” said Mr M. Wilson. “We are putting all we have into it and getting nothing back. Are they at fault, or is it ourselves? If we forgot the Harding Shield and went elsewhere, it may be better,” he added.

Mr Bale said many of the meetings last year were a waste of time. He commented on the smoothrunning of the administration, pointing out that the only delegates “in the dark” were those from Northern Wairoa.

“At this juncture it is difficult to get a hearing that leads anywhere," he concluded.
