Maoris Have 47-3 Win
CANBERRA, Thu. The touring Maori Rugby team outclassed the Australian Capital Territory team yesterday by 47 points to 3. It dominated the play throughout, scoring 10 tries. The Maoris were held for the first 20 minutes through quick breaking by the Territory forwards, but there followed an orgy of try scoring- from brilliant passing movements. They played all-out football, giving no quarter and revealing strength in defence. .
L. Raureli,. halfback, was described as a flashing meteor after a bright display, but there was no better player than the forward, W. Carrington, who was always on the bail. C. Stirling gave the Maoris an overwhelming ad vantage in the line-outs. The pack won the scrum easily. The team tired toward the end. The team was tendered a reception by the Commonwealth Government last night. Universities' Game CHRISTCHURCH, Thu. (P.A.)-Aus-tralian Universities beat a combined team from Canterbury College and. Canterbury Agricultural College, by 12 points (three tries and a # penalty goal) to 5 points (a converted try), at Lancaster Park yesterday.
