Hook Transferred To Auckland
The well-known Northland and Whangarei sportsman, Mr Glen HOok, leaves shortly on transfer from the Bank of New South Wales, Whangarei, to Auckland.
Mr 6ook is noted particularly for his exploits on the Rugby and cricket fields.
He represented Auckland at both games, and also the North Island at Rugby before coming .to Northland shortly before the war. During his nine years here, he has played for Northland at both games, and also for Whangarei.
Mr Hook was a member of the City Rugby Club and the Central Cricket Club and took a very prominent part both as player and administrative worker.
He was treasurer of the Northland Cricket Association, a Whangarei selector and captain of the Whangarei reps. He toured to the South Island as fullback with the Northland Ranfurly Shield team in 1947.
He did not play Rugby regularly last season, and has not turned out this year. Mr Hook’s services to Rugby and cricket are to be recognised by his clubs before his departure. GLEN AND JOHN
He is a-'very close friend of famous All Black centre, John Smith, of Kaikohe.
Each has a son. Hook junior was christened John and Smith junior has Glen as his first Christian name.
Mrs Hook took an active part in the social activities of the Central Cricket Club.
The family, will be making their home in Mt Albert.
