Decision
Mr Fraser issued a statement after the Labour Party conference last night in which he said that if the Government, as a result of the decision of the conference, decided to conduct a referendum on compulsory national service, he would be leading the campaign in the affirmative, “Of course the Government will not recommend a referendum unless it is essential,” added Mr Fraser. “If it becomes essential it means that the Government must give its fullest support to the campaign in the affirmative."
