First Round Of InterClub Table Tennis
With the first round of the Whangarei Table Tennis Association's interclub championships concluded, the season gives promise of being most successful.
Each of the matches played has been won decisively. Scores are as follows: Whakapara, 38; Portland, 10; PorOti, 36; Ruatangata, 8; Mangapai. 42; Whangarei No 2., 6. Whangarei No 1., the odd team, had the bye. Mangapai won the men’s A, ladies’ A, ladies’ B and combines A section, without dropping a game. Whangarei drew the men’s B, five games each, and took one game in the combines E. A similar position arose in the Whakapara - Portland match when Portland was overwhelmed in all except the men's B section, which it won 8-4.
Whakapara did not concede a game in the men’s A and only one in each of the ladies’ A and B.
Winning all games in the ladies’ A and both series of combines. Poroti had a comfortable win over Rutangata. In the men’s B grade both teams won five games.
