UNIVERSAL JOINT IN TAIL Dogs are not born with “universal joints” in their tails but a sheepdog at the Mangakahia trials yesterday gave tire impression of being so equipped. The dog was Scot, owned by Mr C. H. Gaskill, of Glen Murray, which competed jn the heading events and finished second in the run-off for the Wakelin Cup. A year ago, he was run over by a car and had his hip and tail broken. The hip has mended but has'left him with a limp. The tailbone has not knitted and, when the dog is working, the bottom half of the tail operates as if on a swivel. Although this affects his balance, Scot handles his sheep witlj great skilly His owner intends amputating the tall at the point of the break in readiness for the next trial season.
