Far North Seats On Air Service

KAITAIA, Sat. (Sp.) Concern at the absence of advice of ektra provision for Kaitaia in view of the additional air service between Auckland and Whangarei was expressed by the Kaitaia Chamber of Commerce executive on Thursday night. To date only vague indications had been given that extra seats might be available to Kaikohe and Kaitaia passengers on the existing twice-daily service between Auckland and Kaitaia, the president (Mr R. C. Williams) said.

With the extra service available for Whangarei ’ people, Far Northerners were entitled to anticipate increased accommodation, said Mr C. H. G. Hedditch. There had been no announcement concerning altered seat allocations, the secretary (Mr_ L. G. Thompson) advised.

He considered 50 per cent of the passengers now flying from Kaitaia to Whangarei were destined for Auckland by alternative transport over the last leg of the journey.

The meeting decided that a telegram should be sent to the National Airways Corporation general manager (Mr F. Maurice Clarke), seeking clarification of new seat allocations and pressing Far North claims.
