Lock Of Maintenance Of Imported Machinery
AUCKLAND, Fri. (Sp.) .—Machinery manufacturers and suppliers in the United Kingdom and other countries should pay. greater attention to the installation and maintenance in New Zealand of imported plant and machinery. • This opinion was expressed at the annual conference of the Dominion Association Of Carbonated Water and Cordial Manufacturers.
"In spite of . the heavy purchase of plant, however, very few overseas machinery manufacturers are giving satisfactory skilled assistance to local manufacturers in installing the plant or in maintaining it afterward,”' it was stated.
It was also regrettable that the same suppliers failed to Keep in Now Zealand much-needed spare parts and replacement stock, remarked the president (Mr W. J. Cowles). Numerous cases had occurred where production on a machine worth several thousand pounds was stopped for some months through spare parts or technical advice having to be obtained abroad from the original makers. ' It was time that overseas manufact timers - gave greater attention to the New Zealand market and appointed qualified technical representatives. The conference left the incoming executive to approach the machinery manufacturers in the United Kingdom and other counrite? regarding the early introduction of the required services.,
