Air Ceylon Plane Held At Darwin
DARWIN, Fri. U2.3Q pan-)—The Civil Aviation Department has refused a clearance from Darwin to the Skymaster airliner of Air Ceylon bound from London for Sydney.
Air Ceylon, which is operated by the Government of Ceylon, has had a number or charter flights between London and Australia in recent months.
The plane is carrying 18 passengers and a crew of nine.
It was held on orders from department headquarters, Melbourne, because of a suggestion that the plane had no authority to enter Australia. A private company, Australian National Airways, holds some shares in Air Ceylon, and all crews are* at present Australians.
