Education Board Post

CHRISTCHURCH, Fri. (P.A.)— Mr L. S. P. Butcher, of Auckland, was appointed secretary-manager by the Canterbury Education Board this morning. At present district administrative officer for the Education Department at Auckland, Mr Butcher will succeed Mr L. E. Rowley, but it is not yet known when he will take up his new duties. Born in 1895, Mr Butcher was educated at Otago Boys’ High School and joined the Education Department in Wellington in 1912. He has been with it ever since, apart from two and a half years spent on military service during World War I.
