Seas Delay Work

A strong and freshening easterly wind prevented a party of Ministry of Works employees from carrying out work on the easternmost of the Chickens Islands today. The party, led by Mr J. A. C. Kerr, left Whangarei on Mr E. Wright’s Oleo at 6 a.m. today with the intention of completing the overhead wiring for the recentlyinstalled light on the end of the island group. Rough weather was encountered beyond Bream Head and, when it became apparent that it -would be quite impossible to land on the island, the launch turned about and came back to Whangarei, arriving at the Town Basin at ..bout 11 a.m.
