Will Report Oh WFTU Position
WELLINGTON. Wed. (P.A.)—A report on events leading up to. th* breakaway of. some countries from- th* World Federation of Trade; Unipps and of the present position, Is-to be-mad* to the coherence-of' the New Zealand Federation of Labour by the secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (Mr A, E. Monk) who arrived from Sydney yesterday, pn th* Monowai.
Mr Monk, who has represented Australia and New Zealand on the World Federation said Australia would no* attend the Milan conference of th* federation in June, but would con* tinue to pay affiliation fees until * decision was reached whether to coh* tinue membership..
The TUCs of Britain and Canady the CIO of America and the Feder*tion of Labour of Holland, had bboken away from the World Federation, said Mr Monk.
Mr Monk said he did not wish t* speak pn anything controversial, aqd declined to comment on Mr Sharpley’s articles or Communism in Australia. ,
