Jockeys Injured

AUCKLAND, Mon. (Sp.)—Two jockeys suffered injuries when their mounts fell during the running of the Mangere Steeplechase at Ellerslie on Saturday. They were Alec Morton, aged 25, of Matamata, who was riding Race Chum, and Maurice Bowden, aged 22, of Tauranga, who was riding Hazsoult. Race Chum fell at the first fence at the hill and broke his neck and had to be destroyed. Hazsoult fell at a fence along the back. Morton was treated at the casualty ward of the Green Lane Hospital for a fracture of the right collarbone. Bowden was admitted to hospital suffering from concussion and a fracture of the left collarbone. His condition is not serious.
