From Kamo, the North Auckland Farmers’ Coop., Ltd., and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., advised that a large yarding of store cattle came forward, meeting keen competition from a good bench of buyers Trom as far afield as Helensville. Prices were firm on late rates.
Dairy cattle, offered in fair numbers, met improved competition and sold at prices in advance of last week's rates. All classes of pigs sold readily under keen competition, values being firm. Dalgety and ’Co., Lid., conducted two ' clearing sales during the week. Good values ruled for a grade Jersey herd offered on account of Mr R. N. Kelsall at Matakohe, where local buyers were active. Best cows in milk made £l4 to £l6. Others rer-f.ised £ll/10/ to £l3 15/-. The yearling' heifers sold at £6 15/-, while grade yearling bulls changed hands at £ll to £l3. Keen competition for both the shorn sheep and cattle was reported from the clearing sale conducted on account of Mr A. V. Page at Parahi, Matakohe. A good number of buyers attended and a satisfactory sale resulted. A line of mixed aged ewes—mostly 4 and 5-year-olds—with white-faced lambs ac foot, sold for £2/11/6. Dry ewes and wethers made £l/12/-. White-faced wether hoggets realised £l/19/8; whilefaced ewe hoggets selling at £2/5/-. Other quotations included: Shorthorn cows with calves, £ll/5/-; 2-year Polled Angus steers, £l2/10/-; mixed sex Polled Angus and Shorthorn yearlings, £6/12/-; working horses, to £27: A moderate yarding of cattle was offered by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., at Mangamuka where realisations were as follows:. Fat Polled Angus cows, £ll/10/-; l'reshconditioned cows, £7 to £7/15//-; boner cows, £3 to £5; 2-year coloured steers, £B/5/- to £9/16/-; yearling Shorthorn steers, £7/1/-; yearling Jersey heifers, £7/10/- to £9.
