Non - Onion liar! Workers’ Request
AUCKLAND, Fri. (RA,)—Application is to be made by non-unionist waterside workers in Auckland to the Waterfront Industry Commission for/ stand-by pay. Unionists receive stand-by pay—two hours at the ordinary rate of 3/8 an hour —for attendance if they are not called upon to work. Non-unionists are not registered and are not an organised body. Protesting against what they claimed were late calls by the engaging timekeepers, they refused evening shift engagements after; 4’.35 p.m. yesterday. •- No replacement labour .could be obtained and gangs were short of men in several ships. !
