Plane Crash Victim

Flight-Sergeant Victor Horton Baird, aged 28, RNZAF station, Ohakea, who was killed when a plane, piloted by Flight - Lieutenant G. R. Simich, D.F.C., plunged into the breakers at Himitangi, was born at Whangarei and educated at the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He joined the Air Force in 1939 and served on New Zealand and Pacific stations.

He had recently commenced a 20year engagement in the service. His wife and three children live at Inglewood, Taranaki.
