OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION An outstanding film, “The Battle of Tunisia,” was shown at the monthly meeting of the Whangarei Officers’ Association on Thursday evening. The showing of the film was preceded by a short discussion on the domestic affairs of the association, in which it was decided that the monthly meeting would take place on the fourth Tuesday in each month. The area officer for Area 3 (Captain N. R. Ingle) gave a brief resume of the part played by the Bth Army and the New Zealand Division in the campaign. Steps have also been taken to obtain the documentary “Theirs is the Glory” for exhibition to ex-servicemen. This film is the story of Arnheim, and has been described as one of the best films of its type ever produced.
An aftermath ot a record season’s trading just concluding at Henry Wilson’s, is the large number of leftover oddments in the showroom These have been marked down to clear at ridiculous prices with a view to speedy disposal prior to opening new spring and summer goods.
