Leading Men's Team Downed

Panthers, leaders in the men’s open competition of the Whangarei Indoor Basketball League, were decisively beaten by Sadsacks last night. Panthers never really played as a team, and went down 22—10. Montague was the mainstay of the Sadsacks side. Cleary was outstanding on defence. For the third time. Panthers, Sadsacks and United have joined issue at the top of the points ladder. SECOND SPELL RECOVERY United ran up an early lead against Rovers, but were hard-pressed to hold the advantage in the second spell. Led by pivot Jones. Rovers rapidly narrowed the gap, but were still six points behind when time was called. The Athletic ladies' team was much too good for Old Girls B. Kiwi C snatched a one-point win from Kamo. Results were: MEN Foo Boys 2. ATC 0; United 30. Rovers 24; Sadsacks 22. Panthers 10. WOMEN Nomads 2, Kiwi A 0; Kiwi C 15, Kamo 14; Old Girls A 26. Dodgers 4; Rangers 26 tiwi B 4; Athletic 30, Old Girls B 12.
