Compensation In Debauched! Currency
DUNEDIN, Mon. (Sp.).—Referring to the taking over of coalmines and other enterprises by the state, the president of the National Party (Mr W. J. Sim, K.C.) said in his address to the annual conference today that such businessses had passed to the state either by compulsory acquisition or by more or less compulsory sale, but the time was past in New Zealand for the present at least, when the state could make honest compensatiozi in mozzey for what it took. “With the debauched currency the exchange of property values, which are true value, for money values which are false, is a transaction which could not take place in a state where a nice appreciation of fair dealing prevails,” said'Mr Sim. “This must be the position until money itself is restored in value.”
