PILE

LONDON. Britain’s second and more powerful atomic pile at Harwell has.begun operating at low power. The pile will soon be available for experiments at Harwell and British universities, as well as for the production of radio-active materials for medical and other research.

The output, of the pile will gradually be increased -until it is a high-power pile. Its present rate of outpul is 6000 kilowatts.
