No lliwill Now To Germans

BERLIN, Fri. (10 a.m.) — “German interests converge closely on our own and we no longer owe them any illwill,” said Lieutenant-General Robertson, British Military Governor of Germany.

He described the Germans as a Christian, civilised people, who would be treated accordingly. He announced an immediate amnesty in the British zone for all former non-commissioned officers of the SS organisation, except those involved in war crimes, hut including Hitler’s Death’s Head Waffen SS. General Robertson announced increased British fraternisation with Germans, visits to German families would be encouraged, and Anglo-Ger-man organised sport would be unreslyicled. He said that the Soviet order appeared to be a unilateral action directly conflicting with the four power agreement on the government of Berlin.
