90-Mile Beach Dune Research

An intensive study of the sand dunes around Hukatere, 90-Mile Beach, and at several other points to establish the nature of the erosive process responsible for the mobile dunes was made recently by Dr V. J. Chapman, professor of bofeny at Auckland University College. Together with other . botanists, the professor spent 10 days on the work, which included'.preliminary studies of the mangrove and peat swamps to elucidate, if possible, past changes of land and sea level.

Much material was collected, but the results of the research will not be established until the data has been thoroughly examined.
