• Writing to the Whangarei County Council the New Ziealand Institute of Horticulture supported thft council’s attitude regarding the preservaion of 9000 to 10,000 acres I of kauri forest at Wafooua. The .institi.te .Aated that it t/ad akvaya taken the attitude that there was good scope for the activities of the State Forest Service in conjunction with the preservation of the essentially kaupi portion of the Waipoua Forest. The institute considered it would be sufficient to ask for the preservation of 9000 acres of kauri forest. The letter was received.

Springfield Golf Cliib at Rotorua to establish an 18-hple course before April.* Under the* administration of thb club an area of 90 peres has been leased |n perpetuity from a pupate owner with a right of renewal every 10 years, at an initial rental of £lO/10/- a week. The course is about a mile and a half from the town. A large part of the work of establishing the greens and bunkers will be undertaken voluntarily by : members (Sp.)
