Sydney Has Brief Respite From Rain
SYDNEY, Fri. (11 a.m.) —After five days of incessant rain the sun shone fitfully yesterday afternoon and again this morning, but the Weather Bureau says this is only a brief respite. Rain, according to bureau officials, will continue at least until Monday.
After two months of rain, the New South Wales fruit crop is threatened by various diseases. Yesterday was Sydney’s 30th wet day sinie summer officially began on December 1. and the minimum temperature. 55.9 degrees, was the lowest so far this year. The first 15 days this month have been the coldest on record for January.
Flood warnings have again been issued on the South Coast. In the Gosford district, where 10 inches of rain fell in three days, thousands of acres are under water.
