Mrs A .C. Hawthorn
The death has occurred of Mrs Annie Calderwood Hawthorn, aged 74. wife of Mr John Crawford Hawthorn, of Whangarei. Mrs Hawthorn was born in 1873, in Lanarkshire, Scotland, and was married in Glasgow in 1892.
She '.came to New Zealand with her husband and family in 1924, and lived in Auckland before going to Hikurangi. She returned to Auckland and then again came north to Whangarei.
She was deeply interested in church affairs and in her family. She keenly encouraged the founding of the Hawthorn Glass Co.
Mrs Hawthorn was a long-standng member of the Eastern Star Chapter, having been initiated in Scotland, and she recently founded a Whangarei branch.
Mrs Hawthorn is survived by hei husband, eight children, 21 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchil-dren.
