Whangarei Juniors Lose
A Mid-Western team, comprised mostly of colts, beat a Whangarei junior rep. side at Otaika at the week-end by 18 runs on the first innings. The visitors batted nervousry when they had first strike. Langstone was aggressive and was the only one to get double figures. D. Tavinor was the most impressive Mid-Western bowler, taking three off seven overs. All kept an accurate length and commanded the utmost respect. STEEDMAN TOP SCORES • Rex Steedman hit a couple of fours in his 23, which was top score for the home team. N. Attwood was solid in getting his 10 and young Tavinor showed promise in scoring his nine. Edge and Joass were the backbone of the Whangarei attack. Edge sent down 14 overs, eight of which were maidens and took four for eight. Joass sen) down 17.1 overs for his five for 29. Details:— Mid-Western, 65 (R. Steedman 23. N. Attwood 10; L.
