Refuse To Pay Union Levy

DUNEDIN, Mon. (P.A.)— Considerable interest has been aroused among Dunedin tramwaymen over the refusal by four members to pay a levy of £1 struck by the branch as a contribution to finances of the national executive in recognition of its services in gaining higher wages and improved conditions for tramwaymen. The annual meeting of the union, held yesterday, decided unanimously to endorse the branch executive’s motion that a secret ballot of all members on the imposition of the levy be held on January 21. Mr W. B. Richards, president of Transport Workers’ Federation, was re-elected president of the branch union for the tenth year in succession,
