PROTEST
LONDON—A group of British art leaders has cabled to President Truman protesting against the threatened deportation of Hans Eisler, Austrian refugee composer, who is to be tried at Los Angeles on Thursday on charges of un-American activities. They ask ed that Eisler be allowed to enter France.
SENTENCES MADRID—A Spanish military tribunal imposed sentences ranging from one to 25 years’ imprisonment on 16 defendants, including four women, charged with attempting to organise an underground Socialist workert’ party.
