More Lights For Christmas

WELLINGTON, Wed. (Sp.).—Relaxations in the electric power supply regulations to allow of brighter shop and street lightin*. for the Christmas period are contemplated in a circular which is being distributed by the Electricity Controller (Mr F. T M. Kissel).

Being sent to all electric power beards and electric supply authorities, the circular emphasises that local supply authorities must still .keep within" their quotas, but provided this provision is adhered to they may lift restrictions on the interior lighting of shops. These measures will allow the lighting of shop windows between 7 p.m. and 9 P-m. and also some relaxation on street and under-verandah lighting. No relaxation of the ban on sign lighting, both interior and exterior is likely to be provided for.
