Communist Goins In Manchuria

NANKING, Sun. (10 a.m.)—Communist forces in Manchuria and North China gained two important rail centres, according to reliable reports received at Nanking.

In Manchuria a Communist force captured Changtu rail junction, midway between Mukden and Changchun. Below the Great Wall Communists captured Kaomi. an important rail centre on the Tientsin-Pukow railway, after bitter street fighting. Communists are Imperilling the Nationalist position all along _ the Shantung Peninsula and drove within sight of the United States naval base at Tsingtao. The attackers were reported to have ejected Nationalist defenders from a position directly across Kaichow Bay from Tsingtao, where the United States Navy maintains a considerable number of ships in connection with the Chinese Nationalist Navy training programme.
