Siamese P.M/s Task
BANGKQK, Sun. (11.30 a.m.)—The 'Premier (Khuang Aphaiwong) said today that one of his first tasks would be to disarm the Free Thai Army, 'organised and led by Britain and the United States in wartime to fight the Japanese. Aphaiwong, apologising for keeping Phibun Songgram in the Government, said he knew the world was prejudiced against Songgram for serving as puppet Premier under the Japanese, but declared that Siam now needed Songgram’s strength for internal |safety. Songgram would be given the task of disarming the Free Thai Army. Later he would be demoted from his present position of supreme commander of all the armed forces to that of army commander only.
