Barriball Again Oruri Councillor
KAITAIA, Sat. (Sp.)—Mr C. J. E. Barriball, Oruru riding member of the last Mangonui County Council who did not seek re-election at this week’s local body polls, will again represent that district on the incoming council. No nominations were forthcoming for Oruru riding at the election, as a result of which an extraordinary vacancy occurred and to fill this nominations were called for a special election.
Nominations closed yesterday, when the only name submitted was that of Mr Barriball, who was declared elected by the returning officer (Mr A. Maylin Theed).
Mr Barriball already has a long record of service on the council. He did not seek re-election to the Mangonui Hospital Board and his place on the incoming board will be filled by Mr T. H. E. Wilton. of Mangonui.
