Record Week's Coal Output

LONDON, Tue. (10.30 a.m.).—Britain will be able to export in 1948 to Europe at least 6,000,030 tons of coal which the Marshall Plan specifies, if the miners maintain last week’s record output of 4,250,000 tons.

This equals an annual output of at least 212,000,000 tons, compared with the 200,003,000-ton target. Miners have increased production under voluntary overtime involving In some cases Saturday working and in others longer week days. It is estimated that Britain is already exporting 5,000,000 tons annually through bunkering foreign ships in British ports. »
